Lighting
The photo I decided to use was the second photo of Leia on the black background. The light is coming from her left side, making the right side of her face dark.
Position of the model:
Leia is sitting on a stool and facing the left slightly. This allows the light to create the shadow on her face. This is simply a head shot.
Position of the camera/composition:
This was a vertical photo. I was standing right in front of her and shot from a small angle, towards the left which was the direction she was facing. I was about two feet away from her.
Impact/expression:
The lighting in this photo gives it a serious vibe. Leia looks more serious in this photo. She isn't smiling and the lighting is making half of her face darker which could lend to many different interpretations of this photo.
Compare and Contrast:
This photo is much different than say, the photo of myself pointing the camera at the photographer. That has a more fun vibe to it and can be interpreted that I am taking photos of the photography. Since it is in black and white it seems more professional but in color it is fun and exciting.

Self Portraits
To take these photos I used a 10 second self timer. I took these in the art gallery during the late morning to afternoon. I used the positive and negative space of the walls and also used leading lines. I used an ISO of 400, I used auto white balance and used a shutter speed of 1/100. I photographed myself taking pictures and listening to music because those two things represent who I am. I am wearing a Bad Rabbits sweatshirt because they are one of my favorite bands. My photos were successful because they represent clearly who I am. These are not selfies because I am not exactly posing and I'm not exactly taking the photo myself.
Double Exposure
For these double exposures, I used three self portraits and a picture of a classroom skeleton, a photo from painting with light and a landscape photo that I took in Providence. The objects don't relate compositionally. With the first image, I made it so that the skull lined up with my face so that it looked like my skull was exposed. For the second image, the painting filled my face instead of the whole photo. With the third photo, I used my portrait as an overlay to reflect in the photo. To merge the images I used things like multiply, darken, and difference. These allowed me to manipulate the photos in a way that created interesting photos. Conceptually, my photos don't really relate, although they all have their own meaning. Not only the objects but the way that I look in all of my photos can convey a certain feeling when paired with the objects. I look serious in the first photo, which may convey the feeling that I am exposing who I am on the inside and that I am at my most vulnerable point. The second photo is of me smiling and with the bright colors of the light painting, it gives a positive vibe with a fun feeling. The last photo shows me almost in thought, like I am looking into the sky of the city. I could be thinking of my goals or my dreams.
